FWP Matthews and the environment
Flour milling creates a very low impact on the environment. Wheat is milled to produce white flour and bran and these are combined to produce brown flour. White flour is sold as a stand-alone product whilst excess bran is sold as an ingredient for organic animal feed for dogs, cattle and horses. So all the raw material - wheat - is used in production.
As well as running an environmentally friendly production process, FWP has endevoured to keep its environmental footprint small in other ways. Their fleet of five lorries are run 50 / 50 bio-diesel / conventional fuel, and the business only uses paper for its flour bags.
